Pray for Ethiopia: Asking God to Open Hearts in Addis Ababa
Ethiopia is one of the world’s oldest Christian nations. Ethiopian church tradition remembers the man from Ethiopia in Acts 8 who received the gospel through Philip and went on his way rejoicing. Centuries later, the kingdom of Aksum became one of the earliest kingdoms to embrace Christianity. Today, Ethiopia carries both deep spiritual heritage and deep present need. Churches are growing, the gospel is being shared, and many believers are serving faithfully. At the same time, communities are affected by conflict, displacement, ethnic tension, poverty, trauma, and spiritual confusion. In some areas, following Jesus can bring rejection, pressure, or danger. This fall, the Mega City Media Campaign in Addis Ababa will share the message of Jesus Christ through media, local church partnership, and personal follow-up. The goal is not simply that people would hear Christian content, but that hearts would be opened to Christ, churches would be strengthened, and lasting disciples would be formed. Local churches in Ethiopia have set aside one day each week for fasting and prayer as they prepare. Would you join them?
Please pray: For open hearts Ask God to prepare people across Addis Ababa to hear the gospel clearly and respond to Jesus with repentance, faith, and hope. For gospel clarity Pray that every message would be biblically faithful, Christ-centred, culturally clear, and free from confusion with politics, tribal identity, or denominational competition. For church unity Pray for pastors, evangelists, counsellors, media teams, and volunteers to serve with humility, courage, holiness, and love. For peace and healing Ask God to bring comfort to those carrying grief, trauma, displacement, or fear, and to make His church a witness of reconciliation. For vulnerable believers Pray for protection, wisdom, and endurance for those who may face rejection or pressure because of their faith in Christ. For lasting fruit Pray that those who respond would be connected with faithful local churches, discipled well, and strengthened to follow Jesus. Pray also that God would raise up a new generation of workers in Ethiopia, filled with passion for the Good News, and that experienced pastors would be able to pass on their wisdom, vision, and faithful example to emerging leaders.
