Broadcasting Hope to the world
For decades, Great Commission Media Ministries has helped carry the hope of Jesus across borders, languages, and generations through media outreach, humanitarian care, and partnership with local churches.
Our Mission in the Great Commission
Great Commission Media Ministries is a Canadian-rooted Christian media ministry and part of an international Christian organization with headquarters in Finland and offices in four countries. Together, we help proclaim Jesus Christ in hard-to-reach places through media, citywide campaigns, humanitarian care, and personal follow-up.
There will be no greater reward in our lives than knowing we have been part of leading thousands—even millions—of people to Jesus Christ and reaching our generation in a way we could never have done alone. But together, we are doing it. And you are sending us. Dr. Hannu Haukka
The Gospel, Carried Through Every Available Channel
For 50 years, GCMM has used media, compassion, and follow-up to help people encounter Christ in places where traditional ministry is difficult, restricted, or out of reach.

Citywide Campaigns Reach at Scale
GCMM focuses on strategic urban centres where people, cultures, and influence gather. Through coordinated media campaigns, we help local churches reach entire communities with the message of Christ at a scale no single church could achieve on its own.
Media Opens Doors. Follow-Up Makes It Personal.
GCMM uses satellite TV and digital media to bring the Gospel into closed and restricted nations, where many people can explore faith privately and safely. When someone responds, trained teams provide prayer, Scripture, personal conversation, and connection to trusted local believers.
Visionary Leadership
Long before many believed it possible, Dr. Hannu Haukka envisioned Christian programming reaching Soviet people through television. That same bold faith shapes GCMM today — from Middle East media outreach and citywide campaigns covering whole cities to hands-on humanitarian response in Ukraine. His leadership is marked by spiritual conviction, media strategy, and personal courage.
Focused on the Hard-to-Reach
From restricted nations to active war zones, GCMM helps carry the hope of Jesus into places where public witness is difficult, churches may be limited, and many may hear the Gospel clearly for the first time.
A Trusted Legacy Builds Confidence
For decades, GCMM has built trust with Canadian churches, Christian leaders, and respected partners, including Church of the Rock and The Jim Pattison Foundation. With early encouragement from Pat Robertson of CBN and David Mainse of Crossroads, GCMM’s story reflects a legacy of faith, integrity, and courageous Gospel vision.
Mission-First Stewardship
GCMM does not exist to build portfolios or accumulate resources for institutional growth. We seek to keep every gift moving toward Gospel outreach and compassionate care. Our calling is to serve the Kingdom and invest in what lasts for eternity.
Our Journey
The Early Years
Hannu and Laura Haukka’s ministry began with courage, faith, and a burden for people behind closed borders. In the Soviet Union, Laura’s bold witness cost her a place at university and carried real personal risk. After years of bringing Bibles into the Soviet Union, Hannu, a Canadian, married Laura in 1976. In 1981, supported by believers in Canada, they recorded their first Russian-language Christian radio program in a small home studio — carrying the Gospel behind the Iron Curtain to listeners searching for hope. What this taught us: bold faith finds a way forward — and media can carry the Gospel where ordinary doors are closed.
The Birth of Great Commission Media Ministries
What would become Great Commission Media Ministries was officially registered in Finland, Canada, and the USA — established with one purpose: to proclaim Christ to the hardest-to-reach. What this made possible: believers in Canada could help carry the Gospel far beyond their own borders.
From Breakthrough to Global Expansion
The “Miracle of the Century” showed what Gospel media could do at scale: Superbook aired in prime time on Soviet State TV and drew more than 10 million response letters. From there, GCMM expanded into Mega City Media Campaigns, Arabic satellite broadcasts, and Jewish ministry — reaching cities, nations, and closed regions in ways no single church could do alone. What this revealed: when media and local churches work together, entire communities can hear the Gospel and be invited to respond.
Media and Compassion in Action
In a world marked by war, displacement, restricted access, and deep spiritual need, GCMM continues to respond through humanitarian outreach in Ukraine, satellite and digital ministry across the 10/40 Window, citywide campaigns, and personal follow-up — carrying forward the call: All Media. All Nations. This Generation.
