Canada Day: Praying for Canada, Reaching the World
On Canada Day, we pause with gratitude to God for this country — and for the faithful role Canadians have played in helping carry the Good News far beyond our borders.
For many years, Canadian believers have prayed, given, encouraged, and stood with GCMM as the Gospel has gone into places where churches are restricted, Christian witness is costly, and many have never heard the message of salvation in Jesus Christ.
Through media outreach, local-language broadcasts, citywide campaigns, printed testimonies, personal follow-up, and trusted on-the-ground partners, Canadians have helped open doors into homes, hearts, and communities that traditional missions could not easily reach.
Behind every broadcast is a person. Behind every response is a soul searching for forgiveness, peace, and hope. Behind every campaign is the faithfulness of God — and the partnership of people like you.
We also give thanks for the compassion Canadians have shown toward the suffering people of Ukraine. Through your prayers and generosity, ambulances, aid vehicles, wood-burning stoves, food, clothing, medical supplies, and trauma-care resources have reached people living under the weight of war.
You have helped bring warmth to the elderly, care to the wounded, support to families, and practical mercy to communities enduring daily hardship. In many very real ways, Canadian compassion has helped save lives.
Today, as we thank God for Canada, we also pray for the world — for nations in conflict, for people living behind closed doors, and for those who have never heard that there is hope and salvation in Jesus.
And we pray for Canada.
Inscribed on the Peace Tower on Parliament Hill are these words from Psalm 72:1: “Give the king Thy judgements, O God, and Thy righteousness to the king’s son.”
On this Canada Day, we pray that our nation would remain true to the Christian heritage that has shaped so much of its life and history. May we turn our hearts toward God, follow His ways, and continue to be a people used by Him to make Christ known — including here in Canada, and to the ends of the earth.
